Job Description

The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

GENERAL:

1.0 The Pianist/Organist and Song Leader shall provide spiritual music at each scheduled weekly Sunday Protestant and Catholic Worship services and special services, and up to 6 Remembrance Services up to 12 Holiday/Religious Holy Day Events for a grand total of up to 18 special services yearly. c. The pianist/organist will be responsible to work together with another individual song leader. There is one contract requiring two people to fill.

2.0 Description of Services. Musical qualifications – Pianist/Organist

a. The pianist/organist shall be thoroughly trained in using an organ or a piano if organ is not available.

b. The organist shall be able to read music and be able to play by sight hymnals for both the catholic and protestant services. A bachelor's degree in music is preferred and will be considered as a higher priority for contract. The organist shall be trained and experienced in leading contemporary worship through the use of current praise and worship songs and choruses. The organist shall be required to play hymns/songs at the prescribed tempo desired by the pastor of the service. The organist shall have thorough knowledge of contemporary worship music, to include music for weekly regularly scheduled Sunday services, and where applicable, special/holy day services such as memorials, funerals, holy days of obligation, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The organist shall be notified one week in advance by the contractor or chapel pastor to provide for special numbers.

2. Definitions. For compensation purposes, the following definitions apply:

a. Performance - A performance is the pianist/organist playing the chapel organ during appropriate times during one complete regularly scheduled Sunday worship service from beginning of worship service through postlude. A minimum of one up to a maximum of five weekly regularly scheduled Sunday performances per service may be required. A performance includes all hymns appearing in the worship bulletin or directed by the service pastor, plus appropriate musical selections for Preludes, Postludes, Offertories, Anthems, and special selections.

b. Special Services - The organist will be needed for a performance at times other than regularly scheduled weekly Sunday services which may include, but are not limited to special holy days, memorials, remembrances, funerals, and holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Contractor is required to obtain the approval of the Resource Manager and chapel pastor prior to obtaining organist support for special services.

c. Special Requests - If requested, the pianist/organist will play a hymn/song/anthem by him/herself with a unique theme that corresponds with the sermon theme.

3. Musical qualifications - Song Leader Vocalist.

a. The song leader shall be able to sing, read and direct music as needed for both the catholic and protestant services using the chapel hymnals. The song leader shall be trained and experienced in leading contemporary worship through the use of current praise and worship songs and choruses. A bachelor's degree in music is preferred and will be considered as a higher priority for contract. The song leader shall be required to lead and sing hymns/songs at the prescribed tempo of the organist and chapel pastor. The song leader shall have a thorough knowledge of contemporary worship music to include music for weekly regularly scheduled Sunday services, and as needed, special holy day services, memorials, remembrances, funerals, and holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day and shall be available for a performance at these services as needed. The song leader shall be notified one week in advance by the contractor or the chapel pastor to provide for these special requests.

2.1 Period of Performance: The period of performance shall be for one (1) Base Year of 12 months. Plus the renewal for 4 additional years.
