Job Title :  Food Safety & Quality Technician

Location :  Carlisle, IA

Hours/Schedule :  3rd Shift:  11pm - 7am

Type: Contract



Position Overview:  
Join a passionate team dedicated to ensuring the safety and quality of products enjoyed by millions. Our Avon facility produces baking mixes and food service bakery flour. In this role, you’ll directly support the Sr. Quality Engineer in driving critical Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) programs that keep our products safe, consistent, and trusted.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct analytical testing, physical audits, verifications, and administrative duties to support FSQ programs.

• Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation compliance through daily and monthly audits.

• Verify HACCP program records and support plant activities related to Food Safety & Regulatory Assessments (FSRA).

• Collaborate with operations and Quality teams on issue resolution, decision making, and risk assessments.

• Manage product hold orders and support the plant’s sensory evaluation program.

• Provide training on food safety, sanitation, regulatory requirements, and quality systems.

• Serve as the primary back-up to the flour lab technician to ensure flour quality and specification compliance.

Requirements & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience required

• 1–3 years of experience in an analytical lab or food manufacturing quality environment

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn internal systems

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM-related field preferred

• Availability to work 3rd shift and flex hours as needed
