**Job Title: General Labor** **Job Description** Join the Environmental team responsible for ensuring that our facility, grounds, and everything on the property are cleaned, maintained, and kept up to date within environmental regulations. The role involves supporting environmental upkeep, including cleaning, moving materials, and maintaining facility standards. **Responsibilities** + Cleaning and sweeping + Moving materials and scrap metal + Eliminating debris and waste + General facility upkeep + Production tasks in the scrap metal yard + Picking and loading/unloading shipments + General cleaning and maintenance + Disposing of trash and debris by sweeping and shoveling + Using pressure washers on the equipment + Performing any additional tasks as required **Essential Skills** + 1+ year of outdoor experience in construction, landscaping, or general labor + Experience in cleaning and janitorial duties + General construction skills **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Ability to work in an outdoor environment + Familiarity with janitorial duties **Why Work Here?** This location offers a lot of consistent overtime and promotes from within, offering opportunities for career advancement. Many contractors have been promoted to leads and shift managers. **Work Environment** Work at a steel, metal, and auto recycling company with over 100 years of history. The site in Oakland includes an indoor production area and a large outdoor yard with heavy machinery, moving parts, loud noises, and a dusty atmosphere. The position is primarily in the Joint Products department, which is slightly indoors under a structure. The dress code requires steel toe shoes, pants, a plain t-shirt or sweater, and a vest provided by the company. The current shift is Monday to Friday from 6am to 2:30pm, with overtime until 4pm needed on some days, and occasional Saturday overtime. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, California. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
